Alberto "Bert" D. Lina is chairman of a conglomerate of related businesses focused primarily in the logistics industry. His first involvement in the logistics business was at young age of 25 as President of Intermodal Transport Services. Two years later in 1975, he was President of Novo International Airfreight. Today, his group of companies include 2100 Customs Brokers which handles majority of the semiconductor industry's clearance requirements; Airfreight 2100, Inc., the sole license and Global participant (GSP) of Federal Express (FedEx) in the Philippines; U-Freight Philippines, Inc., a full service logistics organization offering freight forwarding services to handle sensitive cargoes of semiconductor companies; U-Ocean, Inc.,which handles sea freight; Cargohaus Inc., the most modern warehouse complex in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA); Integrated Waste Management, Inc., the company that introduced the portable toilet and is presently involved in waste disposal systems; Corporate Air, Inc. which operates Mindanao Express, Mindanao's first commuter and cargo airline and the Philippine flag carrier to the Brunei Darussalam - Indonesia - Malaysia - Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP)-EAGA); Linaheim Properties, Inc., the holding company, I.T. Works, Lina Farms, Assurance Integrated Management Consultants, Inc., and most recently the Lina Bonded Trading Warehouse; and the Laguna Lakers Sports Management Inc. which owns and manages and the FEDEX basketball team currently seeing action in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Bert Lina has a track record of phenominal business achievements and extensive management experiences. He is considered a highly respected expert in an industry that requires time-definite, reliable, efficient and innovative service. The recognition and accolade given to his companies for their various achievements in the industry serve as solid proof of his grasp and understanding of the demands and nuances of the freight forwarding and logistics business. Under his chairmanship, the 2100 Customs Brokers, Inc. enjoys representation in regular dialogues between NAIA Customs and the Semiconductor Industry Traffic Group to discuss and resolve operational problems pertaining to customs clearance. Being a recognized expert in the logistics industry, he became a member of the Customs Industry Cosultative Council representing the Confederation of Philippine Exporters. This council discusses ways and means to simplify procedures and facilitate customs clearance. In July 1988, he was part of the Philippine delegation representing the Customs Brokerage Sector to the BOI/DTI-sponsored investment Mission to Tokyo headed by Hon. Jose Concepcion. In November that same year, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry invited Bert Lina to represent the Customs Brokerage Sector in the 12th Conference of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry held in Taipei.
